It is never said but Grendel and his mother are described as descendants of the Biblical Cain.

Interestingly though, In Worcestershire there was a pond called Grendelsmere near Abbots Morton during the Old English era. The name is likely to be an allusion to Grendel from Beowulf.

He lives nearby in a swampy area. He basically represents the older inhabitants of the area, plagued by the revelry in the hall. You can draw parallels to the way that Dane or Saxon invaders often took the best farm lands, leaving the original inhabitants to hide in the marshes and fens. It is easy to imagine the original kernel of truth in such a tale.

The monsters are said to be descended from Cain along with other supernatural beings. That the descendants or Cain or the descendants of Ham son of Noah were monstrous beings is also found in other texts.

The monsters are imagined as beings who live in the wild and become incensed when their peace is broken by the singing in the hall of Heorot.

How to get rid of swollen gums and to naturally whiten teeth?
I have full braces on the top and bottom.
I also have swollen gums.They aren’t too bad, but enough that I can’t see the tops of my teeth! I take my finger and push up my gums, higher, and you still can’t see the top of my teeth. My question is…how can I get rid of my swollen gums? I brush my teeth everyday, 2 times a day. At night, I brush them for 4-5 minutes. In the morning, only 2-3 minutes. I swear, I spend more time brushing my gums than my teeth. I have just started flossing yesterday. Will that really help though?

Also…my teeth are a LITTLE yellow. They definitely are not white as movie stars’ but they aren’t really nasty yellow. I use Colgate Whitening Toothpaste, and I haven’t noticed any major change. I can’t use white strips or anything because of my braces. Any suggestions? I can’t spend a lot of money either.
~~My parents take a Q-tip and put it in peroxide, and then put it on their teeth. Does this work?? Should I try it?

And I might as well throw in this question while you are here. What is an effective way of removing scars on my face from acne? I have 1 or 2 on my chin and 1 on my cheek. I can’t buy treatment at a store. Home-made treatments are the best.

Tax question..didnt claim head of house?
Right now I am being accused of tax fraud by my mothers boyfriend.. or is it landlord now?.. Yes I sleep at this house but I work and go to school. Im pretty much only here between 12am and 6am. I dont eat here. If I do its a bowl of cereal. My tax agent’s boss said I did absolutely nothing wrong. I made about $7,300 last year via minimum wage. I have a son-whom I am the ONLY legal guardian to- And I solely take care of him aside from my boyfriend and his family. They babysit while I work my rear off. My mother tried to claim me and MY son on her taxes and claimed herself as head of household and Im pretty sure her landlord might have tried, too. So I have a lying, thieving, mail stealing, manipulative house who try to make money off me?
My tax agent said I made too much and they would have to hire lawyers and blah blah to contest against me because I claimed myself and my child BEFORE them. What are all your opinions. Any vulgar statements are no where near exceptable and would be highly immature

Looking for anime's to watch that are similar to Shana/Rosario/FamiliarZero?
hey, i’m looking for animes of a certain genre or types to watch, similar to ones i’ve recently watched-

I am just re-getting into anime, after almost a decade since my pure-action-addict days of toonami and WB(dbz, One Piece, Outlaw, Ronin, Yu Yu,,yugioh, shaman king,) so a few months ago -
- I was looking up random techno vids, looked up a pic of a character,tracked it to Rosario+ Vampire- and i was hooked on R +V as I realized i enjoyed the plots and supernatural elements ,
Went through both Capu’s (Capu 3 is going to take ages to release) and then, I somhow stumbled across Shakugan no Shana.

Highly enjoyed it, Went through SNS and SNS2 , (i’m going to hold off watching the OVA S, while SNS 3 isnt coming out for a while), asked around on Y!A and this was the recommendations i got

Now, I went ahead to Zero, enjoyed it highly, (again, season 4 wont be out for a WHILE), but here i am now looking for anime’s similar. I now look back at zero and say Duh, i was likely to enjoy Zero- same voice actors, same company…haha, seriously?

Problem is, i’ve been told that there are very few supernatural Rosario/Zero/Shana type animes that exist that are decent, and that i stumbled across the best ones by pure luck. I’ve tried going by the genre i’ve enjoyed thus far, but the above 3 are a sort of supernatural/harem/action/romance/?partialEcchi? type of animes.

So, based on above, are there any animes left along that style you’d recommend for me to start?

Subs/Dubs———-Does not matter if it’s subbed or dubbed. lol, i’ve been advised to avoid the subs-are-the-only-way-to-go/dubs-always/screw-anime-manga-is-always-best type of addicts, lol, but i don’t mind after watching Shana in both subs and dubs…no difference to me.

;:::Though R+V had a lot of fanservice and probably is classed as a ecchi-i didnt care,fanservice is not what i am after- it had the elements, plot, and action that i liked, so i don’t mind if i end up watching something that contains fanservice. Especially if what i was told is true and there are barely any decent similar animes to begin with.

If you want to watch the best Supernatural romances, well you haven’t seen them yet.

Air, Kanon, and Clannad are all made by Key. There stories are probably the most heart wrenching anime you could ever watch. Looking forward to their new anime Angel Beats! coming out this spring. Also keep in mind only Air and Kanon are dubbed, but they are all amazing. Btw, the animation is top notch in all three.

Another great one is Ef - A tale of memories, and it’s sequel Ef - A tale of melodies. They are both sub-only but also provide some great stories and wonderful animation.

The last one I will recommend is Tsukihime, Lunar Legend. Its probably the best vampire romance anime to ever be made.

After you see these you will realize the ones you watched are only good, but these are great. I was like you too, I used to watch all action but then slowly switched to romance as I grew older.

Hmmm, kinda dark. I don’t like seeing innocent bystanders gunned down. Maybe don’t overdo the body count? Let the woman leave in one elevator as the villains arrive in the other? It’s hard to get attached to characters when all that’s going to happen is that they die.

I think the nanites would spark my interest. I’d be curious as to whether a super-hero or super-villain would be created from them or if they were just something to be fought over.

So, I’d probably read more but if people kept dropping dead left and right, I’d quit reading. But that’s just me.
